It is common practice in professional sports betting to read up to date news, in fact news can be so important depending on your own individual method of operation that it can be the critical component of an entire betting strategy. But you have to be careful in how you interpret sports news. For instance if you are thinking of having a bet on a Premier league football match, and there is news that a key player is injured then what you have to remember is that this item of news will be more than likely factored into the current price.
Also there is a tremendous amount of misinformation with regards to how people like managers and other people who are associated with sports teams and performers like to deceive their opposition. Quite often you will hear football managers say certain things and then they can be seen to be deliberately evasive in other areas.
Now obviously it is not in their best interests to reveal everything about their team to either the waiting press or the general public in many instances. So quite often a very misleading picture sometimes emerges purely based on certain people saying certain things. The field of horse racing is exactly the same. It is common to hear trainers and jockeys saying both positive and negative things about their horse.
Quite often these comments while being made with the best of intentions, often include personal bias prone to being in such close proximity with their own work environments. So what this means is that if you want to use sports news as a way of perhaps getting an edge then you may have to start looking at news in a totally different way.
For instance lets us take tennis as an example. Lets us say that’s you were watching a live match between Roger Federer and Andy Murray at Wimbledon. You were looking to act on this match in play and in the fourth set Andy Murray asked the match referee if he could have his trainer on. Now this is news that could not have been predicted prior to the event. It is also news that would have a definite impact on the prices in running.
So what this means is that the people who are fastest to react to this event would be the ones who were best placed to take advantage of a movement in price. Also there is no danger with this news being either fabricated or misinterpreted as the facts are clear for all to see. Now obviously the betting markets will view any potential injury to Murray as a serious infringement on his ability to win this match.
Another example of misinterpreting news can sometimes come from the punters themselves. For instance lets use the Premier league as an example. Just a few hours before a game is due to commence the news leaks out that there is a key injury to one of the players of one of the teams that was due to take part. Now the situation with most top flight teams is that their squads are so strong that injuries to most players tend to be covered by other players who are more than adequate in ability.
So any reaction by the markets in this instance could easily be an over reaction based on this news. But it could also simply be an over reaction on the part of one individual. Quite often in sports betting the best news to use is news that cannot be mistaken for something else or misinterpreted to mean something that it doesn’t. so remember this at all times when you are looking to use news as your primary betting strategy.
